DNA origami nanosyringe actively transports molecules into synthetic cells phys.org
A syringe folded out of DNA punctures a synthetic cell and pumps cargo through the membrane, rather than waiting for diffusion to drift it across. The design copies the injection machinery some bacteria use to stab their neighbours. It is a working mechanical pump built entirely from genetic material.
