For roughly two minutes on 12 August, the Moon will blot out the Sun's disc and hand researchers a view of the corona no instrument can fake. Teams are hauling equipment to Spain and Iceland to measure the magnetic field in the layer where the solar wind is born. It is the first totality over mainland Spain since 1905.
